What I Understands
· There was no friendship between Marak and Kate.
· Marak is supposed to be this type of goblin I guess.
· The special lunch for Mrs. Bigelow was pretty quiet for a long time.
· Kate figured out that Adele became the King’s wife which was the goblin.
Questions I Have
· Who was Marak?
· Was he really part of Kate’s family?
· How would Emily have reacted if she knew that Marak was a goblin?
· Would Kate have to marry Marak also?

· Grotesque-(Pg. 49) - Odd or unnatural in shape, appearance, or character; fantastically ugly or absurd; bizarre.
· Banshee-(Pg. 53) - A spirit in the form of a wailing woman who appears to or is heard by members of a family as a sign that one of them is about to die.
· Thwarted-(Pg.64) - To prevent the occurrence, realization, or attainment of: They thwarted her plans.
Literary Terms
· Foreshadowing- (Pg.57) - “Adele did become the King’s wife. The goblin King’s wife”
· Alliteration-(Pg.66) - “It arced and danced in the trees, blinding their dazzled eyes, and a fierce wind whipped up, whirling and tearing their clothes.
Summarizing Statement
· This part of the novel is mainly about how Kate seen Marak in her dreams and she tries to figure out the past of Marak’s life and why he wanted to be with her.
